Web Programming Internship Program- Spring 2009

SUBMIT ONLY THE APPLICATION FORM LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE, AND BE SURE FILL OUT THE ENTIRE FORM BEFORE YOU SUBMIT IT.

IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY LIVE IN THE GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA AREA YOU MUST RELOCATE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM.

352 Media Group will be hosting our Internship Program this spring for approximately 13 weeks. During the course of the program, interns will develop the skill sets needed to create web-based applications. Our internship program is broken into two distinct phases. During each phase, interns will gain a deeper understanding of our project development process and the technologies used in active projects. After completion of the internship program, each intern’s progress and knowledge base will be evaluated. In many instances, 352 Media Group has offered part time and full time positions to applicants who have excelled within this program.

General Notes:

  • The program begins the week of January 12th and ends Friday, April 17th, 2009.
  • The program will be held at 352 Media Group's Head Quarters, located just outside of Gainesville, Florida approximately 10 miles West (on Newberry Rd.) of UF’s campus. The office address is:

    422 SW 140th Terrace
    Newberry, FL 32669

  • Applicants must have transportation available to drive to and from our office. Please be aware that there is no bus route located near our office. The closest bus route ends at the Gainesville Mall nearly five miles away.
  • We will be inviting approximately 18 interns for the spring semester of the program.
  • Interns will not be financially compensated during the program.
  • Credit reimbursement is available for students receiving credits that 352 Media Group satisfies.
  • We will be reviewing applications in October and November. Interviews will be held at the start of December.

We will be offering four distinct program tracks based on skill set. This application is for the Programming Track.

Programmer Path
Our programmers develop the database, integrate the static HTML into ASP.Net, and overall are responsible for all functionality existing within the website. Simply, they convert the static HTML created by the designers into functional websites.

All interns will be required to complete the following:

  • Contribute at least 15 hours per week to the program.
    • An “advanced track” is available for interns able to contribute up to 30 hours per week. Interns participating in this track will follow the same schedule as the standard program; however, they will have more opportunities to work on client projects and to obtain exposure to alternate technologies that the standard track’s time constraints will not allow for.
  • Attend seminars where a staff member of 352 will instruct you on the various technologies we work with.
  • Independently work on projects and assignments.
  • Participate in team meetings used to plan and work cohesively on mock projects.
  • Attend meetings and work side-by-side with 352 developers on real client projects.

Curriculum

During the course of development, we will introduce a variety of technologies and development tools available to web developers. These include (but are not limited to):

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • C#
  • SQL
  • ASP .NET 2.0 & 3.5
  • JavaScript
  • AJAX
  • After Effects
  • Fireworks
  • Photoshop
  • Flash
  • Silverlight
  • Dreamweaver

Credit Reimbursement

Many of our previous interns have earned three credit hours for this program. Check with your college to find out if you will be eligible to receive credit for this internship. For university students receiving credits that the 352 Media Group Internship Program satisfies, 352 will reimburse you for the cost of those credits up to a maximum of $500.00. Interns must show proof of registration with their school to receive compensation for their academic credits. Reimbursements will be made at the completion of the internship program. Interns that do not complete the internship program due to personal reasons or at 352 Media Group’s request will not be compensated.
